Geoff writes: another warm, sunny day, with Tramuntana winds, which means, of course, Santa Brigida. We went out fairly late. In the morning, we finally finished the RHADS webcast – about the airspace restrictions and negotiated corridors when flying in certain directions from the Peak District. We also did another few hours work for the JISC conference, which could, quite possibly, be our biggest yet. It is certainly turning out to be one of the most complex.

Then, finally, off to Santa Brigida. It was really nice to meet another friend from here, Enric, who we haven’t seen since last spring. Johnny and Alistair were also out, as was Peter, a new pilot, who lives near here. Plus two French people we had never seen before. So, mostly foreigners, and one Catalan!

The thermals weren’t quite as strong as yesterday, but still there, and it was very easy to stay up, and get reasonably high. As usual, when the thermals died, there was still plenty of dynamic lift, and Judith had the last flight of the day mostly hands off. I drove down, and we all had a pleasant beer together in the landing field.

Another fun day.

Oh, I almost forgot. Judith reminded me it’s our anniversary (of our first date). It’s really just a one night stand that has dragged on for 5475 nights….. we were going to go to the local restaurant for a meal, but got back here and found it now closes on Tuesdays. So it’s a (special) night in!

See photos of today.

Geoff writes: a windy, cloudy day. We did some work around our next conference; and some LMSC stuff, including a newsletter, and the latest multimedia site guide, for Corndon. We’ve been intending to do this for a while, and this week was a good time to do it, since the forecast for the weekend is NE, and there’s a competition here (the BCC, not the BP Cup, which is in Snowdonia) which is likely to go to Corndon.

A miserable, autumnal day with gales and heavy rain. Too depressing to set foot out of the house, so I finished off the remaining work on the next webcast, which is available now. David and I spent many hours doing the preparation and recording, so I hope lots of people find it useful and informative!

Then on to start work on the next Supporting Deaf People online conference. The dates are set for next February and I have come up with the first theme, hopefully working closely with the World Association of Sign Language Interpreters . It always takes me a while to get going, but once I do, I get really excited about the next conference. Not sure I can top the swearing and profanity workshop of last year, but I’m sure I can dig up something controversial to replace it.

The weekend was a busy one for producing resources, so after editing Mark’s brilliant RASP webcast yesterday, it’s now available in the webcast section of the blog. Then on to editing the next one, called Weather – a detailed look at one day, with David Thomson. It’s ready for approval, so should be available in the next day or so.

We also finally had some serious interest in the van and a guy from Coventry turned up tonight and bought it within a few minutes. His brother-in-law is a mad kite-buggyer and he raved about it so much, I’m seriously tempted to give it a go.
