Geoff writes: a few days of windy weather now. Today was mostly dry, and got quite sunny later on, so it was the usual non-flying mix of work, house jobs, and then some archery in the evening, followed by a beer on top of the Mynd admiring the view to the east.

I say there’s a few days of windy weather, but apparently, according to some religious nutters in the US, the Rapture begins on Saturday at 6.00pm precisely. This is the time when all true Christians are literally raised up to Heaven, whilst eveyone else stays in the Hell below. So maybe Thursday was the last flying day, ever, for anyone.

Religion …. how anyone can take any of it seriously is beyond me.

It was all go today, with early appointments, then squeezing an archery session in, before I spent the afternoon in a meeting. Geoff came home to do some programming work to update our online shop, hoping he could go out hang gliding later. It wasn’t to be. It was still windy at 7pm and the daylight was so low we had to turn the lights on.

The windy weather continues…

Since everything has been on hold for the party preparation, we’re really behind on work stuff. Today was the day to knuckle down and get some of the pile shifted. In the evening we went to karate. Our instructor seemed to think it was perfectly reasonable for us to remember this basic kata. Since this is only our second lesson we could barely remember how to bend down and touch our toes in the warm up, never mind 24 moves in sequence (and on the third round with our eyes closed!). Still, I’m really enjoying the excercise and definetly want to continue.

Geoff writes: a dry but windy day, so we did some work. To be honest, a few days working is fine, we have loads to do. Judith spent much of the day preparing for the weekend – which included doing a lot of gardening. I spent all day converting some of the ebooks we publish into Kindle format. I actually started this last week, and it’s taken far longer than I expected, but hopefully it’ll be worth it, and combining it with redoing our online shop, it might generate some income for us.

Another windy day with occasional showers forecast. These didn’t materialise until the evening, and if we hadn’t been working, Geoff could probably have had a hang gliding flight. Instead we had work meetings. It’s at this time of year when we sit down and map out the work year, planning times and dates of conferences and looking at what other work committments we want to undertake. By 3.30pm, we’d had enough of meetings and went outside into the sunshine to do some gardening, including finding a suitable tree limb for the groovy hammock chair my parents gave us a few years ago for Christmas.

After that we went to archery. I need to do a lot of work on my shoulder muscles…

The demise of the open mic night at the Bridges has left a big gap in our weekly social calendar, so I had a peek at the 31 Days in Shropshire website to see if we could see some of our favourite local bands elsewhere. To my delight, Blues Boy Dan was playing in Marton, so we went along to see him. We assumed that he would either start a bit late or that he would do two sets with a break in between, but he had started promptly at 8pm, so we missed nearly all of his songs. Still, he’s playing some other gigs in the area soon, so we’ll make the effort to arrive on time. He did do one of my favourites though… the Dirty Dishes song.

“There’s too many dirty dishes in the sink for just us two … Well you got me wonderin’ baby who’s makin’ dirty dishes with you …”

Another rubbish weather day. Annoyingly, Meteocat predicted that it would be snowing/cloudy in the mountains as well as here, so we didn’t bother going skiing, but on looking at the webcams it was sunny at Masella all day. We worked and on making a cup of tea, Geoff excitedly shouted me to come down to the kitchen. On the floor was a tiny baby gecko. We’ve rarely seen them in the summer in Castellfollit, never mind in winter. We also have no idea how he got in. I felt terrible turfing him out, but indoors he’ll starve to death, so I scooped him up and put him on the window sill. They’re great climbers, so he’ll find his way down.

And the other news is that I am an aunty to a baby boy. None of us have any experience of those (we’re a family of nearly exclusively female children), but I can’t wait to meet him week after next.

See photos of today.

What a miserable day. At the beginning of the week today was supposed to be the best day of the week. We woke up to pouring rain, but got to spend the morning with my parents who are en-route to the airport so my mum can help out with the birth of my new niece/nephew who is due by caesarean tomorrow morning, unless s/he decides to turn upside down.

The rest of the day we worked, finishing off all the conference documentation for the US Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf and then having an LMSC committee meeting this evening.
