There is a severe weather warning for the whole of the French Pyrenees (Atlantic to Med) and the north of Spain due to very strong winds. We seem to be a little sheltered here, although I did get up at 3am to bring the washing in from the roof terrace. I didn’t fancy Geoff’s undies being distributed all over Garrotxa. What struck me as I was standing outside in the middle of the night was how incredibly warm it was.
Today the winds have been strengthening and the top gust measured in Port Bou at the coast was a staggering 173km/h. They have basically closed the ski resort of La Molina and Nicky is blocked in her village as all the roads are closed due to falling trees. Turns out we got away lightly here in Castellfollit. It was the worst storm in 10 years.

flew the mynd today!!!
HG, PG or both?
Its eerie today – totally calm and a sickeningly pungent small of pine and resin. This is rounded off with the distinctive smell of 2-stroke as the residents of the Collserola get to grips with the next decade’s firewood.
Just looking from our terrace the treeline/skyline has changed massively. The devastation of the forest just in our small area is incredible, I shudder to think of the impact on the entire region.
My next job is to see if we get get out of La Floresta…
