Guess what? Rain… Lots of it. More flooding and more misery. We had a lovely day though. We went to see James and Tammy and their new little munchkin. He’s really cute. It stopped raining enough for us to walk up to the top of their hill and survey the flooding around the river before the heavens opened and we had to shelter in an old railway carriage. After that it was off to Tim and Rae’s for good company, tea and biscuits, delayed by a thunderstorm cutting off their electricity. It’s that kind of summer…

What a day! Many places in Wales and the SW had a month’s rainfall in a day. It certainly felt like that. It poured! There has been widespread flooding in parts of the UK and the forecast is for plenty more. We consoled oursleves by going to the pub with Wayne and talked about how soon we can go back to Spain, and how soon thereafter he can come to visit.

What’s to say… I’m losing the will to blog!
We thought today would be the only chance of a flight this week, but our hopes were dashed by persistent heavy rain most of the day. We’ve resorted to indoor activities, so a game of squash got some of the frustration out of our system this evening.

We tried to beat the weather this morning by going to do archery early. It worked for a bit, but we only got to shoot 7 ends before the rain came in. We sheltered from the first shower, emerged to get our kit ready, just to be rained on again. It was clear that the front had come in, so we packed up and it did indeed rain for the rest of the day.

Everything went wrong today…
The electric gate to our house broke yesterday, so we had to fix that in the morning. Having done that, we went off to archery, only to find the car conked out. Then it started to rain. We settled down to some work, but discovered that the pump in the sceptic tank wasn’t working. When Geoff and John went to fix it, they pulled it up by the hose, which came off, and sprayed them with sewage. Nice.

I hope today is not a portent of what’s to come this month. Rain, gloom, cold, crap. We’ve started to make a packing and jobs list. At least we have some excellent live music to look forward to tonight. So long as the Rev doesn’t sing…

The day ended a dismal month in a dismal fashion. Mist, rain and a very autumnal feel to the air. It did brighten up in the evening, but there was no wind. We worked.
