Miserable day, so we worked and had a meeting to plan the next 18 months of our lives. We do that kind of thing… have meetings, email each other and skype each other from room to room although we haven’t yet sent each other text messages from different parts of the house. You can overdo the whole technology thing, can’t you?

Geoff writes: well, the forecast was right – today was rubbish, cloudy and windy, with  a few bits of rain here and there, so yet another, tedious, work day. Tomorow is northerly, but probably too strong for Llangollen, so either a short 15 minute drive to Sarn, or a long 2.5 hour drive to Lord’s Seat. Lord’s is definitely the better site; on the other hand, I have a 100% record of going XC from Sarn (though I have only flown it once, earlier this summer!). At Sarn, I’ll probably be on my own, or just with one or two others. At Lord’s, there will be dozens of pilots, lots of people to fly with and lots of markers. Lord’s is easily soarable whilst waiting for a thermal, Sarn less so, and has some large trees right in front which can cause rotor in strongish winds. So if they were equidistant, no contest, Lord’s every time. But it is a long drive there.

Geoff writes: a wet day, nothing to do except bits of work. Not even worth going to archery. Judith chose a good week to be away for a competition. The forecast for the next few days is poor too.

Geoff writes: a wet day in the UK, with occasional thunderstorms. The accuracy competition did fly at the Mynd earlier, and later on I saw some hang gliders on launch, but I’m not sure if anyone flew, there was a lot of north in it. I half considered going to archery, but the rain put me off, and the fact that there was a competition there too, so I wouldn’t even be able to get to shoot. So I worked instead.

Judith will be blogging from the competition in Slovenia, and will also do the Twitter feed (the live site/comp info box on the right) but unfortunately she doesn’t have a signal on launch, so she won’t be able to say what the task is immediately after briefing – in fact, presumably not until she lands.

We had the day all planned out, but the weather was even worse than we thought, so a re-think was required. Rather than archery and some DIY, we went to Ikea in Birmingham. After a nearly disastrous trip to Ikea Badalona in 2003, we have avoided the place completely, but we really need some furniture.

Big shops put us in foul moods, but we managed to get round and buy everything we went for without major incidents. I did need a siesta when we got home though. Then more Bash prep and we stayed up till 2.30am watching the election.

Geoff writes: another dull and windy day, though no rain yet. This is getting a little boring now. We couldn’t go to archery because there is a competition on where we shoot. And another canned day for the British Open Series hang gliding competition, in SE Wales – the third day canned in a row. No task yet (which seems fairly typical for UK comps!).

So just a day doing more jobs….

Another grey, rainy day. If the wind had stayed in one direction, rather than doing some shuffling around, it may have been flyable in between the showers. As it was, Geoff did some jobs and I stayed in bed most of the day. Perfect weather for not feeling too well.
