Great packing and getting out of here weather… grim, misty, cold, damp. Visibility was down to about 500m all day, so it felt like living on a little island. We have tons to do, so it’s no problem for us. I am having some problems stopping myself from watching the PWC Superfinal live. You can watch the dots moving on Google Earth and it’s really exciting to observe; that is until Geoff catches me and I get a mini-lecture on how we have work to do, places to go, people to see, etc.

We were going to music night at the Bridges for the last time tonight, but apparently it wasn’t on and there are rumours that the pub is closing down. We are gutted!

It really did feel autumnal today and it was a bit of a shock to the system to wake up to grey skies and a howling gale, after two and a half weeks of heat, sunshine and light winds. I have a mountain of work to catch up on as well as the usual coming home stuff of washing and sorting. Geoff was pleased to have me back… first decent meal he’s had in weeks.

Geoff writes: a day of fixing soakaways, and gardening. Between the showers.

I’m sure I used to haveĀ a more interesting life than this.

The forecast had a high level of uncertainty about when the front would come in today. I thought we would get a sunny morning at least, before the cloud came in, but it was grey and miserable from the start. We couldn’t go further north, since I need to be packed and on a plane tomorrow morning and I didn’t actually think it would be light enough there to be flyable. Turns out I was wrong and Barney and Phil did a couple of respectable XC flights in the Peaks.

Here it was windy, the Long Mynd was clagged in at lunch time and it started raining at 3pm. Looking at the forecast, I am glad I am off to Spain!

A miserable day. Much worse than the already crap forecast. It should have cleared up in the afternoon, but there were still heavy showers around at 5pm, with the rain drumming on the roof. Once the sky cleared the wind picked up and even the die-hard hopefuls had gone home.

Geoff writes: another poor day of weather, with some heavy rain at times. The only slightly interesting (to us) thing we did was pick up our new car, the replacement for the van.

I felt a lot worse today, so slept late, and then felt woozy, full of cold and head-achy all day. I tried to do some productive stuff, but other than small jobs, like putting up the triangle podcast, I didn’t really feel capable. What I did manage to finally do, is pull some proper statistics down from our server. The stats we get from the blog wildly underestimate the actual numbers, so for example, we get the figures for the hits to the podcast page, but not the downloads of the actual files. So one hit may be 22 downloads (because there’s 22 podcasts now). While we thought we had just passed 12,000 hits mark for the podcasts, in fact, there have been 21,601 podcast downloads from our site. And this figure is not accurate either, because I can only get stats for the top 100 pages in a year, so it misses out on a substantial number. There’s also the direct downloads through RSS and iTunes, which we can’t get stats on. So it was nice to see the work on the podcasts is worth it, since they are clearly quite popular!
