Surprisingly (not!) it was raining and windy, with storms in the afternoon. I finished off the LMSC newsletter and spent hours printing it before going into Bishop’s Castle to snail mail it to the minority of our members who do not have an email address.
Once done, I helped Geoff to stuff his parachute back into the hang gliding harness. It’s been ‘airing’ in the spare room for a few days. Amazing how many bits of string there are. The manual was translated by people who only did the first tape of an English-in-a-day course and the pictures were too blurry to make out. Ah well, I’m sure it will be fine if he ever needs it.

It rained and we worked. Yawn… I did go out to the Bishop’s Castle Beer festival in the evening, while Geoff stayed at home and watched TV. Great night out catching up with friends.

Geoff writes: wet and windy. Did some work, did some LMSC stuff, and did some archery. What more can you say?

Geoff writes: we spent the day working on various bits and pieces. Amongst other things, we’ve made a number of changes to the blog, as follows:
a) The external page where ‘our XC flights’ were located has been moved into the blog, and linked from the tabs at the top.
b) We’ve created a new page, ‘articles’, which stores some of the various flying-related articles we’ve written. Again, see the tabs at the top.
c) We’ve created a twitter feed into the sidebar menu to the right. This will be used exclusively for information from flying sites, usually during competitions, e.g. updates on the site the comp is going to, what the task is, etc. Obviously, whilst we’re actually flying, there won’t be any updates. (We were playing with twitter as an alternative to the 3Jam we used to use for text notifications, but our thanks to Jamie Sheldon, http://naughtylawyertravels.blogspot.com/, for the idea to incorporate it here).
d) As part of all the above, we’ve reorganised the sidebar, and made it a bit simpler.
We still have to do some work on getting RSS feeds just for the podcasts, so that people know when new ones are published (we’ve plenty more in the pipeline to add to the 12 already there) – thanks to Tim Pentreath for his ideas and advice on this, we hope to sort it out shortly. Paid work got in the way a bit!

What a contrast to last week. I’ve become used to waking up, throwing on some shorts and putting on the flip-flops. It was pouring when we woke and I had to dig out a jumper from the bottom of the drawer. Welcome back to Blighty!
Spent hours trying to catch up with everything that’s accummulated in the past 10 days, but the pile doesn’t seem to be getting any smaller. Off to music night tonight…
News from the Spanish Championships: Our friend Sergi Ballester has won the second task!

Geoff writes: windy and stormy in Piedrahita, so no task today. Might be better tomorrow. I blame Judith…
Also the hang gliding worlds task today in France, at Laragne, was canned.
And back in the UK, I was considering going out this morning, but it was very cloudy, and started raining. Eventually cleared up, but then windy. Malverns also seemed to be blown out, though they might have flown in the Peaks – Andy went out for a look anyway. I did some conference work.
We seem to be stuck with this weather pattern for the rest of this week.
Judith writes: Windy so no task. I had told Dave about the pre-historic Iron Age hill fort near Avila and he was keen to go, as were his house mates. I spent a lovely day with Dave, Mo, Tony and Naomi eating tapas and then spending four hours wandering around Ulaca. It’s a stunning place. Photos to follow.
Then off to a BBQ with the Northern Irish and Scottish lads.

Geoff writes: up early to take Judith and Mark Leavesley to meet Kai Coleman and Neil Roberts, for the drive to Liverpool to catch the flight to Piedrahita, for the British Open (and Championships). They picked a good day to go, since we have had some torrential rain today, though the weekend could be ok, with either light easterlies or light westerlies depending on which forecast you want to believe.
The comp starts on Sunday, with a practice day tomorrow. During the comp, Judith will be updating the blog regularly with reports from Spain. The forecast for Spain is, I think, good.
