I am a glider (sailplane) pilot over in Oxfordshire / Buckinghamshire (I am ex of Shropshire, so the Mynd is close to my heart) and these tips are very practical for me too... great to get an insight into the madness of paragliding too.. :o) I particularly like the thirds rule. Completely agree with the points on the birds... We have lots of Kites here who are great at marking thermals - although I am sure that they just circle the weak ones to taunt us. Great blog too! Great stuff..!
